Machine Simulation Installation/Update Guide
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to install a new or updated SolidCAM Machine Simulation.
Step 1: Identify Your Machine Simulation Directory
Before moving any files, you need to locate where SolidCAM looks for machine simulations on your computer.
- Open your SolidCAM Global Settings.
- In the left-hand menu, locate the Tool Path Simulation heading and click on Machine Simulation.
- Copy the full file path displayed in the Files Directory field.
- 📌 Default Directory: > If you haven't changed your settings, the default SolidCAM directory is typically:

- 📌 Default Directory: > If you haven't changed your settings, the default SolidCAM directory is typically:
- Close SolidWorks / Autodesk Inventor completely before proceeding to the next step.
Step 2: Extract Your Files to the Simulation Directory
Once you have the file path, you can transfer your new simulation files.
- Open File Explorer and find the
.zipfile that was delivered to you. - Right-click on the file and select Extract All.
- In the pop-up menu, paste the SolidCAM Directory file path that you copied in Step 1 into the text box.
