Protecting your SolidCAM/InventorCAM License when Formatting your Computer

Before formatting your computer, you must follow these steps to continue using your SolidCAM/InventorCAM license. 

 Step 1: Prior to Formatting (Transfer & Backup)

Before you format your computer, first transfer the SolidCAM license. To transfer the license, follow these instructions:

  1. Open the "License wizard" from Start -> All Programs -> SolidCAM -> Software license.
  2. Open the tab "Transfer license".
  3. Select Same computer.
  4. Click button "Transfer license".
  5. A transfer file will be created, which must be saved to an external drive to use after the format is complete.

Step 2: Post-Formatting (Reinstallation & Activation)

After the computer format is complete, follow these instructions to install and reactivate your license:

  1. Install SolidCAM.

    ⚠️Important Note: Ensure you have your backed-up H2H file accessible on the newly formatted machine before beginning Step 2.
  2. Open the "License wizard" from Start -> All Programs -> SolidCAM -> Software license.
  3. Open the tab "Transfer license".
  4. Click the button "Activate license".
